Current Status & OutlookTyphoon ODETTE (RAI) has lost its Super Typhoon classification after it weakened rapidly while quickly crossing Northern Bohol and Cebu last night…now making landfall over Negros Oriental or in the vicinity of Guihulngan City.

24-hr Outlook: TY ODETTE (RAI) is forecast to weaken further, and will move westward at 24 kph across the Sulu Sea, and will make its final landfall over Northern Palawan late this afternoon. Later tonight, the typhoon will emerge over the West Philippine Sea as it heads toward the Kalayaan Island Group.

The presence of this typhoon will enhance the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) and bring cloudy skies with passing "on-and-off" rains with possible Severe Thunderstorms and gusty winds of 30-60 kph across the Eastern Sections of Northern & Central Luzon including CaLaBaRZon, Metro Manila, Bicol Region, Oriental Mindoro, & Marinduque – today until tomorrow (Dec 17).

Current Status & OutlookODETTE (RAI) is now an Extremely Catastrophic, Category 5 Super Typhoon after undergoing rapid intensification during the past 6 to 12 hours. The Core (Eye+Eyewall) is about to make landfall over Siargao-Dinagat Islands in the next few hours.

24-hr Outlook: STY ODETTE (RAI) is forecast to accelerate west to west-northwestward at an increased speed of 28 kph, making further multiple landfalls across Surigao Del Norte (this afternoon), Bohol (tonight), Cebu (late tonight or midnight), Negros (early tomorrow morning) and will be over the Sulu Sea by mid-morning tomorrow. The intensity of Odette will start to weaken from 260 kph down to 185 kph (Category 3) upon moving over the Sulu Sea.

The presence of this powerful typhoon will enhance the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) and bring cloudy skies with passing "on-and-off" rains with possible Severe Thunderstorms and gusty winds of 30-60 kph across the Eastern Sections of Northern & Central Luzon including CaLaBaRZon, Metro Manila, Bicol Region, Oriental Mindoro, & Marinduque – today through Friday (Dec 17).

Current Status & OutlookTyphoon ODETTE (RAI) has rapidly intensified into a 215-km/hr Category 4 system as it moves closer to Northern Caraga, particularly the islands of Siargao and Dinagat Islands. This system could become a Super Typhoon if the rapid intensification trend continues to occur prior to landfall.

24-hr Outlook: TY ODETTE (RAI) is forecast to accelerate westward at an increased speed of 27 kph, making landfall along Siargao-Dinagat-Surigao Del Norte this afternoon, and will start to cross the Visayas passing over Bohol tonight, and over Cebu around midnight. By early tomorrow morning, Odette will traverse Southern or Central Negros with decreased wind speeds of 220 kph (Cat 4).

The presence of this powerful typhoon will enhance the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) and bring cloudy skies with passing "on-and-off" rains with possible Severe Thunderstorms and gusty winds of 30-60 kph across the Eastern Sections of Northern & Central Luzon including CaLaBaRZon, Metro Manila, Bicol Region, Oriental Mindoro, & Marinduque – beginning today through Friday (Dec 17).

Current Status & OutlookODETTE (RAI) has strengthened into a Typhoon (TY) as it tracks westward across the Philippine Sea…remains a serious threat to Caraga & Visayas Regions.

24-hr Outlook: TY ODETTE (RAI) is forecast to move WNW at 22 kph across the northwesternmost portion of the South Philippine Sea, and will make landfall to Siargao-Dinagat Islands by late tomorrow afternoon.  Its forecasted wind speed will be about 165 kph (Category 2 Typhoon).
