One of the two Tropical Disturbances (LPAs) over the Federated States of Micronesia, 97W, has developed into Tropical Depression 16W. This depression is forecast to intensify into a Typhoon and pass over the Northern Mariana Islands on Sunday evening or Monday morning (Aug 16-17). Based on the initial Global Dynamic Forecast Models (GDFM), 16W shall enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning (Aug 18-19) and could threaten Extreme Northern Luzon and Taiwan next weekend (Aug 21-23).

As of 5:00 PM PhT (09:00 GMT) today, Friday, August 14, 2015, its developing center was located some 2,650 km East of Eastern Visayas, Philippines or 1,595 km East of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) [12.5N 149.7E]...with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness up to 65 kph. It was moving West at 07 kph towards the Northern Mariana Islands.

TD 16W is still too far away to directly affect any part of the Philippines.

Meanwhile, the other Tropical Disturbance 98W (LPA) located to the east of TD 16W, or over the Eastern Micronesia - has also developed into Tropical Depression, tagged as 17W. This system is also outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), however, Global Models doesn't show a track towards the Philippines, and is forecast to move towards the Sea south of Japan.
