Current Status and Outlook | Tropical Storm HAITANG (HUANING) has slightly weakened as it moved north in the past 6 hours over Southern Taiwan. Its rainbands continues to bring moderate to heavy rains with strong winds across the western portions of the Bashi and Balintang Channel. This storm is expected to move north-northwestward within the next 24 hours at a speed of 33 km/hr, making landfall over Pingtung County, Southern Taiwan. It will weaken to a Tropical Depression (TD) after its landfall over Southern Taiwan *The combination of TS HAITANG and the strong surge of the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will bring occasional rains, gusty winds, and thunderstorms with large surfs across the inland and coastal areas of Ilocos Provinces and the Batanes-Babuyan Islands. |
